🥟 Chicken Momo Recipe: The Perfect Bite of Himalayan Flavor!

If you’ve ever walked down the busy lanes of Kolkata, Darjeeling, or Kathmandu, the irresistible aroma of steaming hot momos is something you can’t miss. Today, I’m sharing my favorite chicken momo recipe—a juicy, spicy, and utterly satisfying snack that’s perfect for any time of day!

📋 Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Water (as needed to knead)

  • 1 tsp oil (optional)

For the Chicken Filling:

  • 250g minced chicken

  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 2 green chilies (finely chopped)

  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.

  • Add water slowly and knead into a soft but firm dough.

  • Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. Make the Chicken Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine minced chicken, onions, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, coriander, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

  • Add a little oil for moisture.

  • Mix well and keep it in the fridge while you roll the dough.

3. Shape the Momos

  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into thin, round wrappers (about 3-inch diameter).

  • Place a spoonful of filling in the center.

  • Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momo. (You can make half-moon or round shapes.)

4. Steam the Momos

  • Place them in a greased steamer tray.

  • Steam for 12–15 minutes or until the outer cover becomes slightly translucent and glossy.

🍽️ Serve With:

  • Spicy red chili chutney or

  • A simple soy-vinegar dipping sauce

🔥 Pro Tips:

  • Add a little cabbage or carrot for extra crunch.

  • You can also pan-fry the steamed momos for a crispy version called Kothey Momos.

❤️ Why We Love It:

Chicken momos are not just dumplings—they’re comfort food, street food, and party snacks rolled into one! Perfect for family dinners, evening snacks, or even lunchbox ideas.
